Angelina Filimonov
Guide to the Shadow World

Angelina Filimonov (b. 2000, Novosibirsk, Russia) is a visual artist whose work explores myth as a limit experience, addressing the psychological and spiritual thresholds of the human condition. She works primarily in drawing, using the ballpoint pen and digital mixed media as her principal tools. This choice enables the creation of monochromatic compositions in which restraint of color intensifies emotional and spiritual tension.
Filimonov approaches the human body as a site of sacrifice, death, and transgression. While bodily boundaries can produce spiritual isolation, they also function as instruments of revelation and engagement with the world. Each work thus stages both conflict and metamorphosis, balancing vulnerability with transcendence.
Trained in the history of philosophy, Filimonov brings a reflective and symbolic depth to her visual language. Her works are held in private collections and have been used as cover art for underground music releases, where her imagery extends into the realms of sound and ritual aesthetics. She currently lives and works in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
